Backboard is a utility that makes it easy to collect feedback from co-workers, clients, classmates, and project teams. It works with documents, images, text, and URLs, and is available free of charge. The new Backboard has maintained its hallmark simplicity and ease of use.

Features new to this release include:

Document Markup — When giving feedback on a document, image or URL, users can mark up a Backboard, just as they would make corrections to a paper draft or proof.

Enhanced Security — Backboard now offers enhanced security options, making it easy to get feedback on confidential documents. Documents protected with enhanced security settings are transmitted with SSL Encryption and displayed only to specified password-protected, confirmed account holders.

Workflow Integration — Integrating seamlessly into normal workflow, Backboard-by-Email enables users to create a Backboard by copying a specialized email address on their team emails. Backboard automatically creates a Backboard and sends out a notification to the team, providing a centralized venue for all responses. Backboard Express, a lightweight desktop application, allows users to create Backboards from their desktop.

Multiple Versions and Approval — Backboard supports multiple versions of a document and allows for approval on final drafts, making the revision and feedback process easier than ever. With Backboard’s new features, giving and receiving feedback has become more powerful and nuanced–yet the application remains easy and fast. The Backboard team stands by its initial goal to make Backboard highly useful to technical design teams, yet accessible enough for a sixth grader to upload her book report.
